PTO Take Stock Campaign

Each year, Wolf Springs Elementary PTO holds our annual TAKE STOCK Campaign.  You'll receive a brochure explaining this program and how to contribute. You can also donate any time in ParentVue under Fees, "Take Stock," or pay by Venmo @WSE-PTO with your child's name and TAKE STOCK in the memo. Every dollar helps! Check, cash or Venmo are preferred methods of payment, as ParentVue charges the PTO a varying percentage as a transaction fee.

WHAT IS TAKE STOCK?
TAKE STOCK is a way for families to give tax deductible donations to the PTO. This is WSE PTO's primary fundraiser, and eliminates the need to sell items like wrapping paper and magazines. You will receive a donation receipt for your tax records. Anyone can donate to TAKE STOCK, including company match programs.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
Funds support school-wide events, staff appreciation activities, and teacher/building grants. For example, the monies collected cover the costs of our family movie night, field day, Chinese New Year school-wide activities, supplies for community service activities, and our Kindest Kansas Citian and Veteran's Day receptions, so that families may participate in these events free of charge. Funds offset a significant portion of the expense of our ticketed daughter and son date events, as well.

MORE ABOUT GRANTS
Each spring, WSE staff are invited to submit grant proposals to the PTO for projects for the upcoming school year. These grants have included funds to offset field trip experiences, reading incentives, recess supplies, iXL subscriptions, our cohort program, art supplies, school assemblies, phonics and literacy tools, author visits, grade level musicals, maker space supplies, new classroom start ups, classroom materials, a hug fund for WSE families in need, and numerous other projects. In spring 2020, WSE PTO awarded $26,500 in grants for the 2020-21 school year.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER FUNDRAISERS?
WSE PTO does not do any "traditional" fundraisers such as auctions, food sales, etc. and will not ask your child to sell anything on its behalf. Beyond TAKE STOCK, PTO earns a small commission on our Spirit Nights at local restaurants/merchants, and school supply, spirit wear, school picture and yearbook sales. The national Box Tops and Amazon Smile charitable donation programs are connected to Wolf Springs PTO. If you're an Amazon shopper, they enabled the Smile program in their mobile app during the summer of 2020. Please opt in under settings, Amazon Smile, and select "Wolf Springs Parent Teacher Organization."

WHAT ABOUT MAJOR SAVER CARDS?
The Blue Valley Education Foundation, BVEF, holds an annual fundraiser through each school to raise funds for the grants they issue throughout the district. WSE PTO does not receive any funds from the Major Saver card sales. BVEF has awarded many generous grants to WSE staff & programs over the years, for which we are grateful.

QUESTIONS?
If you have any questions about the program or how to make your donation, please reach out to Kelly Miller, TAKE STOCK chair at kellymillerkc@gmail.com, or email wolfspringspto@gmail.com.
